The Icelandic horse is a special breed of horse, developed in Iceland from horses taken to the country by the settlers in 9th and 10th centuries. The Icelandic horse is long-lived and hardy and adapted to harsh weather conditions. the Icelandic horse breed has a double coat developed for extra insulation in cold temperatures and is adapted to stay outside the whole year around. The Icelandic horse is good tempered, has five gaits, great characteristics, is very colorful and is loved by all riders, who once have tried to ride it.
